I remember when, I remember
I remember when I lost my mind
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is such a beautiful song.

This is such a beautiful song.

I have come to really appreciate the simple message found within this song. Each morning, before I drag myself out of bed, I now take a moment to reflect upon how I'll make the impending day a positive one. I also think about those people who have faded away in my life and the individuals currently playing a role in it. In both circumstances, I do say a little pray that peace, good health, prosperity, and well-being find those who have touched my existence. I like to think that the universe is driven by both positive and negative energy, with reciprocity playing a huge role in how one's life unfolds. If we do the morally correct things, resist being an asshole, and genuinely care about people, my belief is that this attracts positivity that builds upon itself. I'm a lot less naive about things than I used to be, but with this, I remain steadfast.

The best things in life aren't things at all. Rather, they're people. The individuals who sacrifice human connections for avarice, will eventually be far poorer than those who don't.
I wish that I was back on the bayou, rollin' with some Cajun queen. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
The tonality of this number is divine.
If this song doesn't stir your soul, then perhaps you don't have one.

"Ohhh. I love you so, but why I love you, I'll never know." Truth. I blame these damned monkey brains of ours. At any rate, that nonsense doesn't concern me in the least bit anymore. What concerns me is the catchy hook to this number.
Sultry.
Out in the streets, they call it murder.

I have a huge crush on Allison Krauss. Her voice is both enchanting and haunting.
If this doesn't stir your soul in some way, you're probably dead inside. The tonality of the guitar is sublime.
What a soulful cover of this Willie Nelson tune! Damn...
I was at Kohl's the other day and this gem started playing, which is some serious baby-making music. Soooooooo smooth, which is an odd coincidence considering that I was there to purchase an iron. The universe works in strange ways.
This is easily my favorite AC/DC song and tends to get me pumped up after a long day of work. The Gods of Rock will look favorably upon you for cranking it up to nearly intolerable volumes. Bleeding ears never killed anyone.

And so it begins....
Today, I decided to start blogging. The superficial answer to why I am doing this probably rests somewhere in the domain of vanity and/or pretension. Perhaps I just like to write, albeit not exceedingly well at all times. Or, it could be that I simply have the inability to shut the fuck up and my prefrontal cortex malfunctions with great regularity. Those are all valid explanations for this endeavor, but the principle reason for starting this supplement to my existing social-media presence, is to share one of my greatest passions: music.
I have been intrigued by the power of music since childhood and that fascination has woven itself into my daily existence as an adult. Not only do I play music every single day, but I find myself intently listening to the world around me. From an office copier's repetitious execution, to the lyrical tones found in the voices of my contemporaries; sounds and rhythms are everywhere. Plus, as a consequence of my career in higher education, I have had the good fortune of not only contributing to the advancement of human knowledge in my own, minute ways, but my jobs have also enabled me to dedicate thousands of hours to "listening" as I work. This simple exercise, one that far too many people take for granted, has kept me sane in the face of unyielding toil, while simultaneously expanding my appreciation for all forms of the finest art. The time has come to more formally share that appreciation with my fellow, curious human beings.
In the end, bombarding facebook with all of the songs that I want to share in any given day is obnoxious and would surely result in having fewer friends. As a courtesy to everyone, the bulk of my submissions (for your listening pleasure) will now appear on this page. This space will be primarily oriented around sharing those songs and artists that I personally find to be appealing, interesting, meaningful, weird, funky, and essential. An "eclectic mix" probably best describes what one will find here from visit to visit. My sincere hope is that this blog will supplement the expansion of your musical horizons and hip you to songs that you may not have otherwise consumed. At the very least, maybe you'll get reacquainted with tunes that have slipped into the ether, drowned out by the cacophonous murmur of modern living.
Diversity is the spice of life and your mind the meat to be seasoned. Let's get cooking....
